My visit to the Little Professor Bookstore

My first trip out as a one-dimensional Steven was to my favorite bookstore in Birmingham. Little Professor Bookstore is located in Homewood, to be exact. I love this bookstore, because it has a spiral staircase right in the middle of the store! I also really love their selection of children's books, and I also get to learn about the many other genres of books.

I started my trip to Little Professor Books like I always do, with a ride on my favorite rocking horse in the Children's books section. It was a little harder to do, now that I'm flat.
My mom usually takes me to this bookstore and lets me spend a whole hour, just to read different books before I get to pick one book to buy and take home with me! I started out with The Little Engine That Could. I thought this story was very inspirational to read, because the little engine was very intimidated by a very large hill. He said "I think I can, I think I can," and the little engine made it over the hill! This is one of my favorite children's picture books!

Next, I read a biography about Abraham Lincoln, who was the 16th president of the United States. I learned that his nickname was "Honest Abe," and he became president at the age of 52. I also learned that he was the president of our country during the American Civil War. He also wrote a famous speech called The Emancipation Proclamation that freed all of the slaves. I realized that I liked reading books like this one. I found this book in biography section.

Finally, I got to read another fiction book about a boy named Stanley. His story was very similar to mine, and he got to go to California and even catch art burglars! I hope that I get to do fun things like he did, now that I'm flat. I liked this book because of the story, but it also is a chapter book, and I felt like I was really testing my limits by reading a book with chapters!

Before we purchased my new book, we decided to look around the bookstore. I walked upstairs to discover some other genres of books. I found out that there was a whole wall of magazines. Some magazines were for kids, some were about travel and different places of the world, and some were about science and history. I thought that the magazine section was very neat. I also found many signs on the wall with names of genres that were upstairs. I wasn't sure what "regional" meant, so I followed the arrow, and discovered that there was an entire bookshelf with books about Birmingham and Alabama.

I'm glad we got to visit the bookstore today. I got to buy a new book, and learned something new!
